How can I set up own domain name for my account (online store)?

By default the storefront of online service WebAsyst Store is only available at a URL of kind http://ACCOUNTNAME.webasyst.net/shop/. If you want to use your own domain name instead of it, make sure that you are using one of the WebAsyst paid pricing plans and register a domain name.

Register a domain name using your WebAsyst account

If you have no domain name, go to section "Account -> My Domains" and register a new domain. No further setup or payment for web hosting or DNS servers is required in this case. After the DNS records update, which takes from several minutes to several hours, you can use the following URLs on your domain:

http://YOUR_DOMAIN/ — storefront
http://YOUR_DOMAIN/shop/ — storefront (alternative URL)
http://YOUR_DOMAIN/login/ — WebAsyst account login page (Administrator login)

If you have registered a domain name with a third-party registrar

In this case you need to specify DNS server addresses for your domain. This can be achieved using one of the following options:

  1. Rent DNS servers, e.g. those of your domain registrar or any other provider. Once your DNS servers are enabled, change the IP address of the domain name to 72.55.148.182.
  2. Purchase virtual hosting service. Any web hosting provider offers own DNS servers for his customers. As a rule, this option is more expensive, but you can use the web hosting disc space for other web applications, e.g. a blog or a forum. Once you have purchased virtual hosting service, change the IP address of the domain name to 72.55.148.182.
Tip: to change the IP address of a domain name, specify the above mentioned IP address for the A record in your domain name properties.

With the IP address changed, enter the domain name into the address bar of your browser. This should result in an account login page opened in the browser as shown in the picture:

If the login page does not appear, then the IP address of your domain name might not have been changed as described above. You can check it at http://all-nettools.com/toolbox/smart-whois.php, for example.

If the IP address was changed correctly, email us your request to have the final setup performed so that the storefront becomes available at your domain instead of the login page. This setup is carried out by WebAsyst specialists free of charge.
