PayPal Website Payments Standard is the fastest and easiest way to accept payments from PayPal users. With this payment option enabled in your online store, customers can add items to their shopping carts, complete the checkout process, and proceed to the PayPal secure payment page to pay for their order.
Note: Only customers who have a PayPal account will be able to use this payment option.
To allow your customers to pay through PayPal Website Payments Standard, follow the instructions below:
Open the PayPal account signup page and click on the "Sign up" link on the left. Choose the business account creation option and click on "Get Started".
The business account approval process may require several steps such as providing the bank account information etc. Should you feel any difficulties opening a PayPal business account, please contact their support service for extended assistance.
Tip: If you already have a personal PayPal account, it is advisable to obtain a separate account for accepting payments, even though PayPal offers an opportunity to upgrade an existing one to the business level. Obtaining a separate PayPal business account will allow you to specify your corporate information in the account details which will help you to build stronger customer confidence.
As is stated in the module setup screen that opens after that, it is very easy to set up: enter your PayPal account email address and select the mode for the module to work in: Sandbox or Live.
Tip: If you are new to accepting payments through PayPal, first switch to the "Sandbox" (test) module to place several test orders and see how it works. Once you have made sure that the module works as expected, switch to the "Live" mode to accept payments for real orders.
