Uploading products to Google Base

Making your products available in Google Products search results is possible through uploading their information to Google Base. Google Base allows you to import product lists from special text files which can be automatically generated by WebAsyst Shop-Script. In order to upload a product list to Google Base, first export it to a file and then import the file in your Google account as described below.

Export products

1. Open administration section "Products -> Google Base".
2. Select the products which must be exported for Google Base.
3. Choose the currency corresponding to the US dollars in your store.
4. Choose which product descriptions must be uploaded to Google Base (brief/full description, or contents of META tag description).
5. Click "Create a feed file for Google Base".

After the page reloads, a link to the exported file will appear on it. Download the file and save it on your computer.

Registration in Google Base

Uploading product lists to Google Base is allowed for registered users only. To obtain a merchant account, open http://www.google.com/base/ and click "Create a new Google Account". On the next page click "Create an account now" and follow the on-screen instructions. After you have created an account, log in to Google Base as described below.

If you already have an account in Google web services, enter your email address and password and click "Sign in".

Configure your merchant account

1. Select your country, click "Continue".
2. Read the terms of service, tick the "Yes, I have read and accept the above Terms of Service" option, and click "Continue".
3. On the "Configure your account" page enter information about your online store and click "Save updates". Any data which specify here can be edited later in your account settings.

The general account setup is now completed, so you only need to import the previously exported file to Google Base.

Import products to Google Base

Click the "Data feeds" link in your Google Base account. If you never uploaded product lists before, the list of feeds on the next page will be empty. Click "New Data Feed" to add a new feed.

1. Choose the target country.
2. Choose the feed format (googlebase, shopping.com, or shopzilla).
3. Paste the name of the exported file into the "Data feed filename" text field: froogle.txt.
4. Click "Save changes".

On the next page the name of the feed file will appear. To upload the file click "Manual upload" in the "Upload schedule" column, choose the exported file from your computer in the pop-up area, click "Upload and process this file", and wait until your file is processed.
