Accessing mail from desktop clients

E-mail addresses created using the WebAsyst Mail online service can be accessed without the use of the WebAsyst interface. Accessing electronic correspondence is also possible with ordinary e-mail clients such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail etc. It may be convenient if you have created an e-mail address in your WebAsyst Mail account but prefer accessing mail by means of a certain desktop client.

For sending and receiving e-mail from and to a WebAsyst Mail hosted address using a desktop client, the following is required:

  1. After registering a WebAsyst online account create an e-mail address using WebAsyst Mail. For that open the "Inbox" folder, click on button "Add mail box", select option "Create new Email address on the WebAsyst mail server" and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Note: Just after the registration you will be able to create e-mail addresses of the kind info@YOUR_ACCOUNT.webasyst.net or alex@YOUR_ACCOUNT.webasyst.net where YOUR_ACCOUNT stands for the name of your WebAsyst account.

However, if you switch to any of the paid pricing plans you will be able to register any second-level domain name like domain.com and create e-mail addresses of the kind info@domain.com or alex@domain.com).
  3. With the new e-mail address created open the "Inbox" folder and click on "Edit settings" next to the created e-mail address.
  4. On the page that opens click on "Open POP/IMAP access". This is necessary to open access to the e-mail address from within a desktop client.
  5. Important note: Opening POP/IMAP access to a mailbox means that you would be able to connect to it using e-mail client software. Access to the mailbox by third parties will be blocked as it requires a user name and a password which are available only to the person who has created the address, i.e. to you.
  6. When POP/IMAP access is opened, a secure password is generated. If you prefer using a different password, click on the "Change" link next to the generated password to enter the password which is more suitable for you. Note that changing the password is optional.
  7. Use other parameters specified in the highlighted area to create a connection to the mailbox using your e-mail desktop client. Now you can access your WebAsyst Mail hosted mailbox using the desired e-mail desktop client.
